Successful Decorex 2017

The Design Archives team, led by Sharon Crowson, had a very successful few days at Decorex 2017. Plenty of visitors from all over the world showed great interest in our  heritage fabrics. Showcasing Archive 1 and Spring Garden collections of fabrics inspired by the Design Archive, built up by Sharon’s father Derek Crowson.  The Archive consists of literally thousands of print and fabric samples, some dating from early 19th century. Sharon is working on creating a series of new collections bringing to life some of the archive’s most beautiful designs. Printed on quality base cloths, all fabrics are developed and produced in the UK.

Decorex is internationally known for being a major destination for interior designers to discover the  finest  luxury products from new, emerging and established talent. 2017 is the  second Decorex for The Design Archives, having launched it’s first collection Archive 1 at Decorex 2016.

New Collection ‘Spring Garden’ launches

THE DESIGN ARCHIVES LAUNCHES NEW FABRIC COLLECTION:

SPRING GARDEN

Spring Garden is a charming new collection from The Design Archives combining three delicately drawn traditional florals, teamed with a classic coordinating stripe, all recommissioned from the huge archive of historic designs and presented in six versatile and fresh colour combinations.

The Design Archives is the brainchild of Sharon Crowson whose family business, Crowson Fabrics, established in 1978, became one of the world’s leading producers, designers and suppliers of home furnishings. Sharon has taken on the vast archive of designs collected by her father and is now creating a series of collections bringing to life some of the archive’s most beautiful designs. Printed on quality base cloths, all fabrics are developed and produced in the UK.

Following on from Archive 1, the first collection from The Design Archives, Spring Garden is printed on carefully selected linens and cotton satin. The original designs have been given a new lease of life, with palettes of rose, coral, gold, persimmon and mist, inspired and influenced by the subtlety and vibrancy of the blossoms and blooms of an English country garden in spring. Delft, with its crisp white backgrounds and pretty blues completes the colour line perfectly.

Spring Garden will translate easily throughout the home, either in a sitting room, bedroom or dining area, on blinds, drapes and upholstery. Or add a pop of Spring on a scatter cushion to bring the garden indoors.

The Collection comprises:

Heidi:
Rose/Delft/Persimmon/Gold/Coral/Mist

Chloe:
Rose/Delft/Gold/Coral/Mist

Perryvale:
Rose/Coral/Gold/Mist

Garden Stripe:
Rose/Delft/Persimmon/Celadon/Coral

First Collection ARCHIVE 1 now available to view at new showroom

THE DESIGN ARCHIVES has opened a new showroom in the World’s End Studios, Lots Road, Chelsea SW10 and sampling of the recently launched collection, Archive 1 is now available.

The Design Archives is the brainchild of Sharon Crowson whose family business, Crowson Fabrics, established in 1978, became one of the world’s leading producers, designers and suppliers of home furnishings.  Sharon has taken on the huge archive of designs collected by her father and is now creating a series of collections bringing to life some of the archive’s most beautiful designs. Printed on quality base cloths, all fabrics are developed and produced in the UK.

The first collection, Archive 1 comprises two books: Linen & Cotton and Wools & Velvets.  Both are taken from designs in the Crowson archive, which Sharon has sensitively re-drawn and re-coloured to make relevant to modern interiors.  Elegant florals with delicate paisleys sit alongside bold, coordinated stripes and motifs, which create an individual statement or when worked together, a vibrant and cohesive design scheme. Sharon will soon announce agency and distribution partnerships in selected countries.

The Linen & Cotton collection incorporates four elegant and traditional florals: ‘Tree of Life’, ‘Celeste’, ‘Grosvenor’ and ‘Grand Floral’.  These classic designs work in both a traditional and contemporary setting.

The Wool & Velvet range is a luxurious collection of digitally printed 100% cotton velvets and wools.  ‘Ludhiana’, ‘Grand Floral’ and ‘Tiffany’ are an eclectic mix of designs in various scales making then suitable for curtains and upholstery.  ‘Opera’ is a cotton velvet in eleven shades and is carefully co-ordinated to complement large scale designs.

“I have been involved in the textile industry for thirty years, working with the family business Crowson Fabrics” says Sharon.  “It was a much loved and successful brand.  This is a wonderful challenge to curate this expansive archive that my father built up and I am enjoying bringing a selection of the classic designs to life. I am looking forward to showcasing each collection as it becomes available in our fabulous new showroom in the World’s End Studios.”
