Hello! Design Centre Chelsea Harbour

In time for Spring’s ultimate design event, London Design Week, 10th-15th March,  we have created a lovely display case on the first floor of the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, a short walk from our showroom in the Worlds End Studios, Lots Road.

The Design Centre champions the very best in the design world and we are excited to have a presence there.  We will be changing the display quarterly and have chosen fabrics from our recently launched Jewel Collection.

The Jewel Collection is inspired by the designs in our extensive archive of historic fabrics. The collection is beautifully coloured. A treasure trove of jewels from rich Ruby red to elegant Opal. Printed on a choice of sumptuous shimmering velvet, a classical linen and an elegant cotton satin. All produced in the UK.

Consisting of 3 designs – Grand Tiffany, Amadour and Tree of Life. The collection inspires a unique and dramatic sophistication to enhance any interior.

Scottish Interiors Showcase – We’ll be there!

We are looking forward to showing our collections at the Scottish Interiors Showcase on 19th and 20th February at Macdonald Inchyra Hotel, Polmont.

The Jewel in our crown is our fabulous new Jewel Collection, inspired by the heritage designs in our Archive.  A true treasure trove of jewel colours from vibrant ruby red to cool, elegant opal.

Amethyst Velvet

We will also be showing our first collection Archive 1 consisting of two books:  Linen & Cotton and Wools & Velvets. Both are taken from our historic archive and have been sensitively re-drawn and coloured to make relevant to modern interiors.  Elegant florals with delicate paisleys sit alongside bold, coordinated stripes and motifs, which create an individual statement or when worked together, a vibrant and cohesive design scheme.

Our fabulous Jewel Collection has launched!

A treasure trove of jewels!

The JewelCollection is inspired by the designs in our extensive archive of historic fabrics. The collection is beautifully coloured. A treasure trove of jewels from rich Ruby red to elegant Opal. Printed on a choice of sumptuous shimmering velvet, a classical linen and an elegant cotton satin.  All produced in the UK.

Consisting of 3 designs – Tiffany, Amadour and Tree of Life. The collection inspires a unique and dramatic sophistication to enhance any interior.

Tiffany

Tiffany is taken from an 1970’s archival design by Michel Vidal.  It is inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, with aspects of Art Deco. Coloured in striking shades, ranging from rich ‘Jewel’ to a subtle ‘Aqua’ and bright ‘Opal’.

Tree of Life

Developed from a charming classic Tree of Life mid-19thcentury archival document for the ‘Archive 1’ collection.  Now adding two new colours ways:  Antique Rose and Tea Rose, reflecting the original colouring of the archival historic document.

Grand Amadour

An archival piece from the parisian studio ‘Artilier’ – an elegant and inspiring traditional large scale floral bouquet. Shimmering with seasonal rich and tasteful smart colours, creating a dramatic and sophisticated addition to any room.

Launching at Decorex – Wallcovering!

The Design Archives is launching its paper backed fabric collection at Decorex this September.

The vibrant Tree of Life Turquoise paper-backed fabric makes a fantastic wall covering.  Be bold and pair it with curtains in Milano stripe.  WOW!

Fabric walling creates a luxurious effect and provide a finish to a room that paints and papers can never achieve.  Fabric offers versatility in the use of patterns and different textures that will enhance a design scheme in everything from a formal room to a small cloakroom. It also offers sound absorbing and insulating qualities.

As an alternative to battening, fabric can be paper backed which is applied with specialist adhesive to any vertical surface.  The Design Archives has now created a paper backed range of its iconic designs.

“Our bold and colourful designs look stunning on walls,” says Sharon Crowson, founder of The Design Archives. “We have papered a huge space for a client in Switzerland in our graceful Grosvenor design and it looks fabulous!”

The Design Archives was established in 2016 by Sharon who has over thirty years experience working in the textile industry, primarily with Crowson Fabrics, at one time the largest fabric company in Europe. She inherited a vast archive of heritage designs, some dating back to 17c.  She selected some of the most vibrant hand-painted documents, which have been painstakingly redrawn and re-coloured to give them relevance to a modern interior.  All of the fabrics are produced on quality fabrics in the UK.
